The content of glycogenolytic factor in pancreas from different species.

چکیده
Assays of glycogenolytic factor in samples of insulin prepared from the pancreas of ox, sheep and pig (Audy & Kerly, 1952) suggest that there is little difference in the glycogenolytic-factor content of pancreas from these animals. In an attempt to find a richer source of the factor, extracts of pancreas from cats, rats, ferrets and guinea pigs have been assayed for their glycogenolytic-factor content. Rabbit pancreas was also examined for comparison with the results of Sutherland & Duve (1948), who assayed the factor content of pancreas from rabbit, dog and ox. Since Sutherland & Duve (1948) and Heard, Lozinski, Stewart & Stewart (1948) have suggested that the factor is secreted by the a cells of the pancreas, assays were also carried out on extracts of tissue from the teleost fish Lophius piscatorius, a species in which islet tissue occurs separately from the pancreas proper, mostly in easily recognizable encapsulated structures (Mollendorf, 1939).

Identification of Helicobacter spp. in gastrointestinal tract, pancreas and hepatobiliary system of stray cats
The aim of the present study was to determine the presence of Helicobacter species in different parts of gastrointestinal tract, hepatobiliary system and pancreas of stray cats. Six different sites at the level of genus, gastric (H. heilmannii and H. felis) and enterohepatic species of Helicobacter were investigated in six cats using species-specific primers by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). ...
متن کاملProtective Effect of Capparis spinosa Hydroalcoholic Extract on the Integrity of Rat Pancreatic Islets
Background and Objective: Capparis spinosa L. belongs to the Capparaceae family for which biological roles such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antidiabetic effects have been reported. Some active chemical groups including flavonoids, phenols, alkaloids, tannins, and minerals have been detected in these plants [Sci Rew1] . This study aimed to extract the C. spinosa alcoholic extract from...

Objective(s): Nepeta binaludensis Jamzad (Lamiaceae) has been used in folk medicine of Iran to cure various diseases. The plant is an endemic species to the country that has recently been identified in Razavi Khorasan province. To evaluate the antioxidant and anti-melanogenesis of N. binaludensis, in this study the inhibitory activity of different extracts of N. binaludensis in murine melanoma ...
متن کاملاثر کادمیوم بر روی مارکرهای استرس اکسیداتیو، محتوا و ترشح انسولین در جزایر لانگرهانس جدا شده از پانکراس موش صحرایی
Background and purpose: Cadmium is a highly toxic industrial and environmental pollutant that is known as an important risk factor for developing diabetes. Oxidative stress is reported to be highly associated with diabetes and its complications. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of cadmium on oxidative stress response and secretory function of islets of Langerhans from rat pancr...
متن کاملEffect of hyperglycemic-glycogenolytic factor and epinephrine on liver phosphorylase.
The hyperglycemic-glycogenolytic (H-G) factor, a protein originating in the islet tissue of the pancreas (l-3), and various sympathomimetic amines, of which epinephrine is the chief representative, cause increased hepatic glycogenolysis in viva and in vitro. The glucose output of rabbit liver slices has been used as a quantitative test system for the action of these glycogenolytic agents in vit...
